Advanced Brain-Computer Interface: Researchers from the University of California developed a BCI that translates brain activity into synthesized speech by analyzing sensorimotor cortex signals in 80-millisecond increments. ​
Silent Speech Training: The participant trained the system by silently 'speaking' 100 unique sentences from a vocabulary exceeding 1,000 words, enabling the BCI to decode her intended speech without vocalization. ​
Enhanced Communication Speed: This method achieved nearly double the words-per-minute rate compared to previous techniques, facilitating more natural and fluid conversations. ​
Personalized Voice Synthesis: Utilizing prior recordings, the system's voice synthesis program replicated the participant's original voice, adding a personal touch to the synthesized speech.
