OpenAI reveals how 700 million people actually use ChatGPT. The results will shock you. Here's EVERYTHING you need to know:

  • By July 2025, 18 billion messages were being sent each week by 700 million users, representing around 10% of the global adult population.

Table below shows the growth in total message volume for work and non-work usage. Both types of messages have grown continuously, but non-work messages have grown faster and now represent more than 70% of all consumer ChatGPT messages.

  • Practical guidance, seeking information and writing, collectively accounting for about 77% of all ChatGPT conversations.

  • Breakdown of ChatGPT usage:
    👉 Tutoring/teaching → 10.2%
    👉 Writing/editing → 10.6%
    👉 Programming → 4.2%
    👉 Math/data analysis → 3.4%

  • Men vs Women usage:
👉 Men use ChatGPT more for technical help (+6.2%).
👉 Women use it much more for writing (+7.6%).

Personal Take: ChatGPT is not just for coding. Most people use it for practical help and writing tasks. This explains why it feels more like a general assistant for daily life than just a “programmer’s tool.”

Albania Appoints AI Minister To Tackle Corruption

Image: Diella

In a historic first, Albania has appointed an AI, named Diella, as a cabinet minister to root out corruption in public procurement. This move blends technology and governance, igniting global debate on the future of public accountability.

  • Diella appears as a woman in traditional Albanian clothing, providing a symbolic fusion of cultural heritage and technology.

  • She is now Albania’s Minister for Public Procurement, overseeing government tenders and spending.

  • Until recently a digital assistant on their e-Albania portal, Diella has been given real authority to award contracts.

  • The government says an “uncorruptible” AI system promises transparency and fairness, removing human bias in decision-making.

  • Critics question the move, citing legal doubts about holding a non-human entity accountable for ministerial decisions.

  • Cybersecurity experts warn that giving an AI access to lucrative national contracts could make it a high-value hacking target.

  • The experiment is part of Albania’s push for EU membership and institutional reform by 2030.

  • Supporters call it innovative; skeptics see symbolism without a clear legal roadmap for digital office-bearers.

As Diella gets to work, the world is watching if AI can achieve what humans have so far failed true government transparency.

Personal Take: This is both a brave and risky bet on AI. If it works, governments everywhere might be led by algorithms someday, shifting the meaning of democracy, accountability, and trust forever.

OpenAI just announced major upgrades to Codex, their AI coding agent, making it a faster, more reliable, and context-aware collaborator. Codex now helps developers code anywhere, on desktop, web, GitHub, or even mobile, powered by the new GPT-5-Codex engine.

  • GPT-5-Codex is optimized specifically for software engineering.

  • Delivers quick help in interactive sessions and independently handles large, multi-hour tasks.

  • Shines at code review: catches critical bugs and provides smarter suggestions.

  • Works across platforms, including CLI, IDEs (like VS Code), GitHub, and ChatGPT's iOS app.

  • Updated Codex CLI and IDE extension feature design/image sharing, better task tracking, and to-do lists.

  • New cloud infrastructure makes task turnaround 90% faster, with improved setup and dependency handling.

  • Security-first: runs in sandboxed environments, with customizable security and approval modes.

  • Included in ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Edu, and Enterprise, with API coming soon.

This is a big step toward working with AI, not just using it, at every stage of software development.

Personal take: With Codex this capable, coding agents are morphing from code-completion sidekicks into dependable engineering teammates. The future? AI truly becomes part of the dev team, letting humans focus on strategy and creativity, not just syntax or bug hunts.

How to Use Nano Banana for Image Editing:

  • Upload your image in the Gemini app or Google AI Studio

  • Clearly describe your intended change. For example: “Please add a red balloon to the boy’s hand.” or “Remove the car from the background.”

  • The AI will match the original’s style, lighting, and perspective for a seamless look.

There are multiple use cases for using this more effectively.

Inpainting (Selective Editing with Semantic Masks)

  • Select the area you wish to alter. Specify the new element you want in its place. Example: “Change only the girl’s dress color to blue; keep the rest of the photo identical.” The edit will focus just on that part, preserving the rest of the image.

Advanced Composition (Combine Multiple Images)

  • Upload all images you wish to merge. Specify the elements to combine. Example: “Put the cat from image one onto the sofa from image two.” The Gemini app will generate a new composite scene based on your description.

Preserve Important Details (High-Fidelity Edits)

  • If any details, like faces or logos must remain unchanged, state this clearly.
Describe both what you want added and what must stay as is. Example: “Add sunglasses to the person, but keep all facial features identical.” This ensures the edits don’t override key parts of your photo.

Best Practices for Professional Results

  • Detailed requests give you more control

  • Explain the purpose of your image. “Make a minimalist tech startup logo” works better than just “make a logo.”

  • Refine step by step. Use follow-up prompts like, “Change the lighting to sunset tones.”

  • For scenes with several parts, instruct the AI one step at a time.

  • Rather than saying “no people,” describe “an empty park at sunrise.”

  • Use terms like “close-up,” “aerial view,” or “wide shot” to specify the camera angle or composition.

Nano Banana makes professional photo editing accessible to everyone without needing complex softwares.
